I’m a wife, a mom of 2 kiddos + a fur child, and a certified personal trainer for mamas-to-be and new moms!
I spent the first 10 years of my training career working with a wide range of clients, from school-age athletes to adults wanting to lose weight and maintain healthy lifestyles. Then I got pregnant with my son and found myself lost with how to train throughout my pregnancy, and with no one to really give me good advice on what to do or not to do. I was used to lifting heavy and doing high intensity workouts, but afraid of pushing too hard and stressing my body with this little baby inside. I saw so many women accomplishing crazy things while pregnant, and I felt lame for wanting to take it easy, but some things just didn’t feel very good so I backed off.
Then came postpartum, and I was convinced I would “bounce back” quickly. I mean, I was fit beforehand so it should all come back easily, right? HA! I had so much to learn…
Combine sleepless nights with a newborn, navigating the whole new world that is breastfeeding, and going back to work full-time after 3 months, and it took way longer than I expected to feel even close to “normal” again. And that was just the physical side…
There are so many aspects of new motherhood that you don’t fully understand until you experience it…and a lot of things people don’t talk about. The struggle to get back to feeling myself again, both physically and mentally, inspired me to want to work with women during this transitional period. I want to be a support person for new moms, to help them find their new normal, and continue to do the things they love to do.
